Facebook Tips: Get Into Timeline

Facebook will be updating all pages to a new design template on March 30, 2012. Get your page ready now.

Facebook has been offering their new Profile design via their new Timeline since last fall. In January, Facebook announced they would be updating all Profiles to the new Timeline look. Ironically, they didn’t give a, er, timeline for implementation.

But, if you also have an author Page on Facebook, you should check it out. Or, you can visit our Author EMS Facebook Page to see the announcement. Not to tease you: all Facebook Pages will get a new design on March 30, 2012. And that new design is based on Timeline.

The good news is that you can start making the transition to the new look as soon as you’re ready. Your Page will have a button (near top, far right) to Preview the new page look. You can start with this preview and tweak the page to add or subtract the content you want to feature. You can publish it when you’re ready—or on March 30th, Facebook will publish it for you. Meanwhile, your “old-style” Page will remain active for other users to view.

Bonus: We wrote an overview of the process with screenshots to help walk you through it. Timeline Your Facebook Author Page  This page will remain free and available to anyone.

With Profiles, once you add Timeline to your Profile, you have 7 days to play with the look before it goes “live.”

Whether you use Facebook as your favorite social media or rarely visit it, if you have a Profile and/or a Page, you’ll want to update the look on both in the next few weeks.
