Brenda Novak: For The Cure of Diabetes Online Auction

Each year, for the month of May, NYT best-selling author Brenda Novak runs an online auction for diabetes research.

The auction takes a full year to plan and pull off, but it’s a labor of love—an effort to help all the people who, like her youngest son, suffer from diabetes. Her very first auction ran in 2005 and in 2011, the auction raised over $300,000. It’s the biggest online event to fund diabetes research in the world.

Brenda is seeking donors for the 2012 auction. Interested authors should plan to donate something in addition to any books—a gift basket, a gift card, a lunch with you, a critique. A group of authors could even pool their money and donate a Kindle, Nook or iPad.  Last year, the auction boasted 20,000 unique visitors and over 500,000 page hits. It’s a great promotional opportunity in addition to contributing to making a difference for the millions who suffer from diabetes.

My name is Danita and I’m a volunteer on the auction and your help in getting the word out generates more shoppers and visits to the auction website. We have added two new features to this year’s auction. We know that there are some shoppers who are unable to bid on items but do want to contribute to the cause so we have added a store which will allow them to purchase items and the proceeds go towards the auction the link is Brenda Novak’s Diabetes Auction Store.
