Amazon has been busy rolling out changes to their book and author pages. What’s the latest?
- Popular Highlights: On the book page, Amazon now includes Highlights from your Kindle edition. What this means is that readers can highlight excerpts from the text as they read. If they’ve signed up to share their highlights with Amazon, and enough people highlight the same piece of text, then the popular highlights get added to the book’s selling page on Amazon. It’s a nice extra sales tool.
- On the author page, Amazon now encourages you to lock in a custom URL for your author page. Instead of a long string of numbers, your URL can be amazon.com/your_name. Remember, you need to look for this option in Author Central.
- Amazon opened online sales in Spain and Italy on December 1st. Author Central in these countries doesn’t appear to be functioning yet, but we’ll let you know.
