Amazon Changes: Highlights and Custom URLs

What are the latest changes at Amazon?

Amazon has been busy rolling out changes to their book and author pages. What’s the latest?

    • Popular Highlights: On the book page, Amazon now includes Highlights from your Kindle edition. What this means is that readers can highlight excerpts from the text as they read. If they’ve signed up to share their highlights with Amazon, and enough people highlight the same piece of text, then the popular highlights get added to the book’s selling page on Amazon. It’s a nice extra sales tool.
    • On the author page, Amazon now encourages you to lock in a custom URL for your author page. Instead of a long string of numbers, your URL can be amazon.com/your_name. Remember, you need to look for this option in Author Central.
    • Amazon opened online sales in Spain and Italy on December 1st. Author Central in these countries doesn’t appear to be functioning yet, but we’ll let you know.

  1. Amazon has made various changes on the Kindle over the years and most people have been happy with this. One of its popular features is being able to make notes and highlights and trying to access these online. There is an iOS app that will be released on November 2013 which will make it convenient for Kindle users to access their notes and highlights as these can be found under one place.

Snippefy (http://www.snippefy.com) is going to be a great app as users will be able to share their notes and highlights on social media and also export them to Evernote, Dropbox and email.

I wanted to share this resource with you and hope you find it useful.

    Thank you
